Welcome to our Step by Step guide! We are working hard to create an interactive tool to guide you through the complex process of finding and applying for financial aid. Until our guide is complete, we hope the following checklist will help you prepare for financing your education!

1. Decide on one or more schools & apply for admission.
   
   
2. Know your schools' deadlines and meet them.
   
   
3. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), listing the schools that you have applied in Step 6 of the FASFA.
   
   
4. When you receive your Student Aid Report (SAR), make sure all information is correct.
   
   
5. After receiving the SAR contact all of the schools where you applied to check on the status of your award letter.
   
   
6. When you receive your award letter, accept or decline each item offered, sign & date it, and return it to the financial aid office as soon as possible.
   
   
7. Follow the directions of the financial aid office when applying for your educational loans. These directions will be outlined in the award letter or enclosed materials.

9. Before classes begin, make sure you have paid the balance of your bill. You will probably need to check with the business office of your school.
   
   
10. Reapply each year for financial aid!
